New phone this week

Matthew 0 Comments

I am looking forward to picking up the Google Nexus phone this up coming week. I have been without a phone for almost 2 months now and it is killing me. For a person so connected to technology as I am, not having a cell phone is devastating. But thankfully I get to replace the old torch with a more up to date phone that can handle new OSes. The problem with the Blackberry line of phones is they don’t make them update-able. Over the years I have had a few Blackberry phones, the most recent ones were the Curve 8530 which had OS 5 and would not allow the upgrade to 6, so I got a Torch, and less then 8 months later they announce 7, which the torch 9800 will not support.…

You are at risk if you use WEP Wireless security

Since I have had a little bit of experience with this type of wireless security I thought I would write a quick article on it. We just moved into an apartment building and this is where this issue really takes a turn. When we first moved in, we noticed there were about 30 networks we could attach to, some really weak, others really strong, and most of them were using WEP as a security protocol.

The problem with WEP is it can be hacked in about 5 minutes. There is an flavour of Linux (a version of ubuntu, modified) called BackTrack and it is used by hackers to crack the password on WEP, WPA, and WPA2 secured networks.…

Farewell to the Flame (The theft of the Torch)

Well this weekend has been a hell of a downer for me. On Friday I opened the store at 8:30 so my boss/good friend could sleep in, having going out the night before for one of his friends birthdays. He called me that morning on my cell to ask me if opening went okay, and as I was up front putting out the papers, everything was fine. After the call I put down the phone on the desk nearest the door and finished putting out the papers.

Around mid day I wondered where my phone was (while at work I rarely have it on me, its either at my desk charging, or somewhere within reach).…

The Stylish Music of Go Long (!)

I just realized after reading Go Long (!)’s press Release that my blog is listed in the “Press” section. Sadly, the post I created entitled “Go Long (!) an Awesome Local Band” which was posted in November of 2011 no longer exists. So I am gonna write another article on them for the simple fact that they are an Awesome local band (To Ottawa) and their music is becoming more and more popular.

If you have no idea who Go Long (!) is, I suggest you check out their site: GoLong.info.

I have known the lead singer Danielle for about 5 years now and fell in love with her voice.…

1/2 Moved in

Wow what a day, woke up early and packed up my room, roommate picked me up at 10:30am and we moved our stuff in, well, what we have, which is pretty much our clothing and hygiene products (toiletries). The furniture will come in next weekend, so till then all I have a folded up futon mattress to sleep on (my back is already in pain just thinking about it).

Tried out the pool. Over chlorinated is an understatement, and now I know what they meant by “unheated”. Despite the sting in the eyes it was a nice refreshing swim on a hot day.…

Canada Day Post

Okay, well actually its June 30th, but as I am moving tomorrow I figured I would make my post today. I’ve been on the “Island” for 6 months now and am finally moving from a room in a house to an apartment 5 minutes from work. This is awesome news for me. The place where I am moving out off has been an interesting stay. For one the house seems to be located in its own little jungle, there are so many trees, bushes and plants in the front yard that you cannot even see the house from the side walk.…
