Well its now official, I am back in college for a second time, 10 years after I graduated from Algonquin College’s Computer Systems Technician course, I am back at it. However this time I am attending Dawson College in Montreal. The funny part is, the course I am now taking (Preparation for Microsoft Certification) deals with pretty much everything I learned in the Technician’s course, minus of course the hardware aspect of it. But the labs I did, where we installed XP, Windows NT4/Server 2000, and did network security, are the same, just updated of course, now its Windows 7, windows 8 and Server 2012.
This time round though I am in an accelerated course, which means they are cramming everything into only a few short months (~6 months) instead of 2 years (4 semesters). And unlike last time I also hold a full-time day job. But just because I am in a night course, doesn’t mean its any easier, in fact, it’s considered a full-time course (and I am a full-time student) as each 3 month “Semester” is 180 hours.
Once I am done with this course I am going to take Dawson’s “Preparation for Cisco and Linux Certifications” course, which will take me into the new year (2015), Once completed I will be going my MCSA (Microsoft certified Solutions Associate) for Server 2012 and windows 8 (or 8.1) along with Comptia Linux certification and what ever certifications Cisco has as I am not sure the course will cover everything needed for a CCNA certificate. Once I have my MCSAs its only a a few steps to get my full MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) certifications in both Server and Desktop infrastructure.
So in short, I may not be posting as much as I would like. Running 60 hours weeks plus study time makes it hard to do anything else… That and then going for my Certifications is gonna make it hard to post more than once a month if I am lucky… I hope I can post more and will strive to post as much as possible, even if it’s just a quick comment.
